Why we do

aoncap-what-we-doWe do – because we believe in our region. It is a region of recognised potential and amazing opportunity. More than 313 million Africans can be classified as middle class (AfDB 2011) and with a young population this is expected to grow exponentially over the next 10 years. But, notwithstanding these positive achievements, Transparency International scores the majority of countries in sub-Saharan Africa with less than 50% which in its view is indicative of endemic corruption (www.transparency.org). In addition, the World Bank cites the sub-Saharan African region as introducing the most regulatory reforms in 2013/14. Our business is to assist clients with identifying attractive opportunities, while navigating them through the public policy, regulatory and ethical challenges that arise when attempting to exploit them.

We do – because it takes 5 to 10 times longer to set up a business in sub-Saharan Africa than in Asia.

We do – because not one of the 46 sub-Saharan economies appear in the World Bank top 40 for Ease of Doing Business Rankings (www.worldbank.org).

We believe our ethos, experience, relationships and expert local knowledge will be indispensable in supporting your business and investment choices in Africa.
